There are many things to check out and do when you are here, from floating down a river on a raft to enjoying some authentic Indian cuisine. Here are some of the best places to visit in North Goa:
Baga Beach
Baga Beach is a beautiful beach located in North Goa. It has a lot of sand, many palm trees and is located near the Arabian Sea. The days can get very hot, so be sure to take some water with you! Baga Beach is the best beach in Goa. It is an incredibly beautiful and relaxing place with deep blue waters and pristine, white sand beaches. There are many beaches on this stretch of coast, but Baga is the most popular and easiest to find. One of the best places to visit in North Goa, Baga beach is a place you can spend hours just watching the waves.
Fort Aguada
The Portuguese built the Fort Aguada in the 16th century. It is North Goa’s second-oldest fort and is considered to be one of the most beautiful forts in India. The fort has a high wall with granite crenellation. The walls are covered with frescoes from various periods, including the 17th and 18th century. Inside the fort, there are two gates, resting on pillars and adorned with carvings from various Hindu deities like Shiva and Vishnu along with their symbols: the trishula and dandhi mukh.
Anjuna Beach
Anjuna Beach is one of the most famous beaches in North Goa. It is known for being the focal point for India’s hippie subculture in the 60s and 70s. Today, it still attracts people who want to wander through its hippie village, take a dip in the sea, and enjoy some music on the beach. This is a very beautiful beach which is not crowded. It has a long strip of white sand and clear, blue water. The calm ocean is good for swimming and people can enjoy snorkeling while they are here.
Chapora Fort
Chapora Fort is a 700-year-old fort on the banks of the Zuari River near Panaji in North Goa, India. It was built by King Govinda II and has a commanding view of the Zuari. Chapora Fort Goa is located in the Chapora area of North Goa. The fort was built by the Portuguese as a defense against the Muslim Mughals and it is today called one of the best-preserved forts in India. As you can see, the fort has seen many more battles than those waged between the British and the Portuguese.
The Chapora Fort is a historical fort located in the village of Chapora, which is situated on the banks of the Mandovi River in North Goa. The fort is about 3.5 km from the Bassein Airport and 4 km from Vasco da Gama International Airport. The fort has been built by Kotfal Khan, Azam Shah Suri’s (of Gujarat Sultanate) grandfather in 1494 A.D., overlooking the old town of Margao on one side and the city of Panjim on other side.
Vagator Beach
Vagator Beach is a popular tourist beach on the western coast of North Goa. It can be accessed by taking a local train from the city of Panjim, the southernmost station in North Goa. There are many natural attractions surrounding this area including mangroves, small white beaches, and coconut groves. Vagator Beach is located at a distance of about two kilometres from the town of Calangute in North Goa. It is on the southern coast, known for its stunning beaches and crystal clear waters. About 75 metres from the shore stands a water spring where tanned brown-skinned local fishermen work their nets
Calangute Beach
Calangute Beach is a quiet, serene and scenic coastal beach with an excellent location. The Calangute Coach Station and the North Goa Bus Stand are just minutes away from the beach which makes it easy to travel around the city. The beach has many restaurants and bars that make it a perfect spot to visit for locals and tourists alike. Calangute Beach is among the best beaches in North Goa. The beach is full of beaches, cafes, and hotels. This is one of the most popular tourist destinations in the country.
Candolim Beach
It is a white sand beach with one of the most beautiful sunsets in India. The best time to visit this beach is during the monsoon season when the water is as crystal clear and blue as the sky itself. Candolim is a beach tucked between the mountains and sea. It has vacation homes, hotels, restaurants, and other attractions. The beach is not just for tourists because there are many families that have been living in the area for generations. There are many things to do like scuba diving, swimming, snorkeling, fishing, or walking on the beach.
Reis Magos Fort
Reis Magos Fort was constructed in the 16th century by a local king of Goa. This fort is famous for its sea view, tranquility and historical significance. Reis Magos Fort is a Portuguese fort that was constructed in 1510 AD. It lies on the northern edge of the town of Panaji and is one of the oldest functioning forts in India. The fort was constructed by the Portuguese to protect themselves from attacks from the nearby city at that time- Panaji.
Mae De Deus Church
Mae De Deus Church is a Portuguese-style relic of the 16th century. It is located on the island of Vilamoura. The white, neoclassical structure originally served as a chapel for the wealthy families of Goa. Mae De Deus Church was originally designed in the 16th century. It is one of the best-preserved churches in India and it’s still used for its original purpose. The church has four levels that were built at different times, but it’s fairly easy to find an area you’re comfortable with on any level. Each level has a different feel and features beautiful paintings from two periods.
