Hong Kong reported 31,008 Coronavirus cases and 153 deaths on Sunday. China reported its highest daily tally of coronavirus infections since the outbreak in Wuhan at the start of the pandemic, as the highly transmissible Omicron variant spreads to multiple clusters across the country.
The nation announced 214 domestic confirmed cases – defined as people with symptoms – and 312 asymptomatic infections on Monday. The total level of 526 for a day is a level not seen in two years and it poses a significant challenge to the country’s firm adherence to a COVID zero strategy.
The Covid Zero policy has isolated the world’s most populous country from the rest of the world as Western nations begin to live with the virus and slowly open up.
Managers expect flexible work cuts (8:01am HK)
More than half of UK managers hope to dial back their pandemic-era adoption of remote working and flexible arrangements once Covid-19 retreats, undermining hopes among employees that many of the changes Will tolerate.
