At Aero India 2023 in Bengaluru on 14 February 2023, Defence Secretary Shri Giridhar Aramane met several defence delegations. These meetings were aimed at strengthening the defence cooperation between India and various other countries.
The UAE delegation, led by Mr Matar Salem Ali Marran Aldhaheri, Defence Secretary of the Ministry of Defence, was one of the key meetings. The two sides discussed a range of ongoing defence cooperation issues and expressed satisfaction with the regular military engagements between the two countries.
Another important meeting was with a delegation from Myanmar led by defence industry chief Lt Gen Kan Myint Than. The two sides discussed ongoing defence cooperation issues and explored ways to enhance cooperation further.
The Brazilian delegation, led by Maj Brig Rui Chagas Mesquita, Head of the Secretariat for Defence Production, also held a bilateral meeting with the Defence Secretary. The two sides discussed a range of defence-industrial cooperation issues and explored possibilities for further cooperation.
The Defence Secretary also met with a delegation from Cambodia, led by Gen Yun Min, Secretary of State, Ministry of National Defence.
Reviewing the current cooperation between the two countries, the two sides discussed ways to further enhance defence cooperation.
A bilateral meeting was also organized with Ms Katerina Gramatikova, Deputy Minister of Defence of the Republic of Bulgaria.The two sides discussed issues related to defence-industrial cooperation.
Lastly, the Defence Secretary met with a delegation from Mauritius, led by Mr Kechan Balgobin, Permanent Secretary, Prime Minister’s Office, Government of Mauritius. They conversed about current and upcoming defence collaboration topics and shared their perspectives on critical matters.
These meetings demonstrate India’s commitment to strengthening defence cooperation with its partners across the world. With the global security environment evolving rapidly, it is essential for countries to work together and build strong partnerships to maintain regional and global peace and stability. The Defence Secretary’s meetings with these delegations are an important step in that direction.
