Fuel Fiasco: Nationwide Petrol Strikes Intensify Against Stringent Bharatiya Nyay Sanhita

Petrol Strike: The nationwide strike against the Bharatiya Nyay Sanhita (BNS) continued for the second consecutive day, triggering fuel supply disruptions and extensive queues at petrol pumps across the country. The BNS, replacing the colonial-era Indian Penal Code, has imposed strict penalties for hit-and-run cases, targeting motorists involved in serious accidents who flee without reporting.

Maharashtra: The Maharashtra government, responding to the protests, has urged police to ensure uninterrupted fuel and LPG supply. However, disruptions persist as packed lorry drivers participating in the strike are reportedly impeding the dispatch of LPG cylinders to the market.

Gujarat: Protesters in Gujarat strategically blocked highways, causing delays and traffic jams on routes like the Mehsana-Ambaji and Ahmedabad-Indore highways. Social media circulated videos of the protests, advising commuters to steer clear of affected routes.

Rajasthan: The strike reached parts of Rajasthan, resulting in traffic jams on major highways like Dholpur-Karauli, Udaipur-Nathdwara, Sawai Madhopur-Kota Lalsot, Bhilwara-Ajmer, and Anupgarh-Ganganagar.

The ongoing protests underscore the discontent among transport associations and drivers over the stringent provisions of the new law. The demonstrations are causing widespread disruptions, prompting authorities to address the concerns to restore normalcy in essential services and traffic flow.
