The Ministry of Tribal Affairs held a workshop on good governance for District Collectors and Project Officers (ITDA) of Scheduled Areas at the Civil Service Officers Institute in New Delhi. Over 90 participants from ten different states took part in the workshop, sharing their experiences and offering suggestions on how to improve policy implementation in their areas.
Union Minister of Tribal Affairs, Shri Arjun Munda, was the Chief Guest at the event and shared his thoughts on the importance of understanding and being culturally sensitive to the Nature of Scheduled Tribes and Notified Scheduled Areas
He emphasized the need for the holistic development of villages to be linked with various programs, such as the Forest Rights Act, Panchayat, and Tribal Character. The Minister also stressed the importance of scheme awareness at the grassroots level and the need for institutional development to be matched with ownership.
Minister of State for Tribal Affairs, Smt. Renuka Singh Saruta also attended the workshop and spoke about the achievements of the Ministry of Tribal Affairs in a short amount of time. She highlighted the significant improvement in the condition of tribals, including the election of a President of India and several ministers from tribal backgrounds to influential positions in the country. Smt. Saruta emphasized the importance of creating awareness of the Ministry’s schemes and policies to ensure the holistic development of tribals.
Secretary of the Ministry of Tribal Affairs, Shri Anil Kumar Jha, also attended the workshop and expressed his happiness at the full attendance of the District Collectors and Project Officers. He emphasized the role of the Ministry in the welfare of tribal communities, who require assistance in all aspects of life, including health, education, and livelihood. Shri Jha also spoke about the plan to establish a Scheduled Areas Cell that will address the matters relevant to tribals with comprehensive solutions.
The workshop on good governance was a successful event, bringing together District Collectors and Project Officers (ITDA) of Scheduled Areas to discuss important issues and share their experiences. The participation of high-level officials, including the Union Minister of Tribal Affairs, emphasized the commitment of the government to the welfare of tribal communities and their holistic development.
