Moushumi Chatterjee started her acting career in 1967 with the Bengali film ‘Balika Badhu.’ In 1972, she made her Bollywood debut with the film ‘Anuraag.’ However, it was her role in the 1974 film ”Roti Kapda Aur Makaan” that made her a household name. Her performance in the film earned her a Filmfare nomination for Best Supporting Actress.

Breakthrough Roles:

Moushumi Chatterjee continued to deliver stellar performances in a number of films in the 70s and 80s, including ‘Angoor,’ ‘Manzil,’ and ‘Ghar Ek Mandir.’ Her roles in these films established her as one of the leading actresses in the industry. In 1976, she was Nominated for the Filmfare Award for Best Actress for her performance in the film ‘Anuraag.’

Personal Life and Family:

Moushumi Chatterjee was married to Jayant Mukherjee. Jayanta Mukherjee is the son of music composer & singer Hemant Kumar. The couple has two daughters, Payal & Megha. Chatterjee contested in the 2004 Lok Sabha election as a candidate for Indian National Congress but lost. In 2019, Chatterjee joined Bharatiya Janata Party.
