New Covid ‘NeoCov’ Found Among Bats Dangerous to Humans: Scientists from China’s Wuhan, where the Covid-19 virus was first time appeared in 2019, have cautioned of a new type of coronavirus ‘NeoCov’ in South Africa, stated to have a high death and transmission rate. This is asp per a report by the Russian news agency Sputnik.
However, according to the report, the NeoCov virus is existing virus. This is associated with the MERS-CoV virus. it was discovered in outbreaks in Middle Eastern Nations in 2012 & 2015. This is similar to the SARS-CoV-2, which causes coronavirus in humans.
While NeoCoV virus was discovered in a bat population in South Africa and has only been known to spread among animals. A new unpeered study reported as a preprint on the bioRxiv website discovered that NeoCoV. This is close relative PDF-2180-CoV can infect humans.
According to the Chinese Academy of Sciences’ Institute of Biophysics and researchers from Wuhan University, only one mutation is needed for the virus to infiltrate human cells. The study findings stated that the novel coronavirus ‘covid’ poses a risk since it binds to the ACE2 receptor differently than the coronavirus pathogen. As a result, neither protein molecules nor antibodies produced by people with respiratory diseases or who have been immunized can protect against risky NeoCoV.
According to Chinese researchers, NeoCoV carries the potential combination of MERS-high CoV’s mortality rate (1 in every 3 infected person dies) and the current SARS-CoV-2 coronavirus’s high transmission rate so far.
A statement from officials from the Russian State Virology and Biotechnology Research Center was issued on Thursday, with experts reporting following a briefing.
The Vector research center is aware of the data obtained by Chinese researchers on the NeoCoV coronavirus. At the moment, The potential risks outlined need to be studied and probed further.
