PM Modi has arrived in Samarkand, Uzbekistan to participate in the SCO summit which starts today. PM Modi is scheduled to have bilateral talks with Russian President Putin today. This is the first meeting since the war between Russia and Ukraine.

The (SCO) is a Eurasian political, economic, and security alliance founded in 2001. Its members are China, Russia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Iran and Uzbekistan. India and Pak became full members of the SCO in 2017.

The SCO summit will be an important opportunity for PM Modi to discuss regional and global issues with President Putin. The two leaders are expected to discuss the situation in Afghanistan, the war in Syria, and the North Korea crisis.
