Director Todd Phillips on Sunday shared franchise star Joaquin Phoenix’s first glimpse as Arthur Fleck aka Joker from the upcoming sequel of ‘Joker: Folie a Deux‘. The filmmaker shared the look of Phoenix from the sets of the movie.
An image of Joaquin Phoenix in character as Arthur Fleck was shared by the filmmaker. As he’s receiving a shave from what appears to be an orderly at the facility, the homicidal Arkham Asylum convict lies dead-eyed. The wiry physique that Phoenix took on to play Fleck in the original 2019 film seems to have been readopted by him in Phoenix.
After helming the first film and steering the dark comic book adaptation to a whopping 11 Academy Award nominations, a Golden Lion wins at the Venice Film Festival, and a whopping box office success with global ticket sales topping $1 billion, Phillips returns to direct ‘Joker: Folie a Deux‘. The follow-up has been advertised as a musical.
The much-anticipated sequel to the 2019’s dark and gritty Joker is a musical. The Joker’s love interest Harley Quinn has been joined by singer-actor Lady Gaga.
The Joker: Folie a Deux is set to release in theatres on October 9, 2024, five years after the release of the original film.
