Chief Minister Siddaramaiah: Karnataka Government to Fulfill Five Guarantees in Current Financial Year

02-06-2023

The Congress party secured a significant victory in the Karnataka election, winning 135 out of 224 seats, obligating them to fulfill the promises made during their campaign.

The Congress had outlined five guarantees to the people, including free power to all households, monthly financial assistance to women heads of families, free rice distribution to below-poverty-line households, financial support to unemployed graduates and diploma holders, and free travel for women in public transport buses.

The implementation of these guarantees is estimated to cost around Rs 50,000 crore annually, as stated by the Food and Civil Supplies Minister, K H Muniyappa.

The Congress government, led by Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, has expressed its commitment to fulfilling the guarantees and assured that the distribution of rice and implementation of other schemes will be carried out without hesitation.

While Rahul Gandhi had promised to implement these schemes on the day the government took over, Chief Minister Siddaramaiah stated that the government had agreed in principle and sought time till the next cabinet meeting to work out the details and financial implications.

The guarantees are expected to be implemented after the next cabinet meeting, as the government works out the details and financial implications of the schemes.
