Over 84,000 Posts Vacant in Central Armed Police Forces

According to the central government, there are over 84,000 vacancies in the CAPFs as of March 2023.

The CAPFs include five different security forces: the Border Security Force (BSF), the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF), the Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP), the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF), and the Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB).

The BSF has the highest number of vacancies, with over 26,000 posts unfilled.

The CRPF has over 22,000 vacancies, while the ITBP has over 18,000.

The CISF and SSB have over 10,000 and 7,000 vacant posts, respectively.

The central government has stated that it is taking steps to fill these vacancies through various recruitment drives and initiatives.

The shortage of personnel in the CAPFs has raised concerns about the security situation in India, especially given the recent rise in border tensions with neighboring countries.
