Tripura

The northeastern state of India, Tripura, is beautiful. The capital city of Tripura is Agartala and the official language is Bengali. The state is bordered by Bangladesh to the north, east, and west, and by the Indian states of Assam and Mizoram to the south. Tripura covers an area of 10,491 km2 (4,051 sq mi)

The name Tripura is derived from the Tripuri tribe, who are the original inhabitants of the region. The history of Tripura can be traced back to the 6th century AD, when it was a part of the Kingdom of Tripuri. The kingdom was ruled by the Manikya dynasty and later became a vassal state of the Mughal Empire. Tripura later became a princely state of the British Raj and remained so until 1947, when it joined the Indian Union.
