Union Home Minister and Minister of Cooperation Shri Amit Shah has lauded the decision to posthumously award former Prime Minister Chaudhary Charan Singh with the Bharat Ratna, India’s highest civilian honor. In a statement shared on X (formerly Twitter), Shah expressed his happiness and gratitude towards Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi for honoring the contributions of millions of farmers and workers by bestowing the prestigious award upon Chaudhary Saheb.
Shah remarked that Chaudhary Charan Singh, affectionately known as Chaudhary Saheb, dedicated his entire life to serving the farming community and undertook numerous initiatives for their welfare. He emphasized Singh’s steadfast commitment to upholding democratic values, noting his courageous stance during the Emergency period.
According to Shah, Chaudhary Charan Singh’s tenure as Prime Minister exemplified his ability to address a wide spectrum of issues, from agricultural livelihoods to broader policy matters, showcasing the leadership potential of a farmer’s son.
The recognition of Chaudhary Charan Singh’s contributions to the Bharat Ratna not only honors his enduring legacy but also serves as a tribute to the resilience and hard work of India’s farming community.
