As the political landscape in Uttar Pradesh heats up in anticipation of the Lok Sabha elections, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has turned its gaze towards a crucial demographic – the Scheduled Caste and Tribe (SC/ST) vote bank, traditionally aligned with Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) supremo Mayawati. To solidify their support among these communities, the BJP has orchestrated a series of moves, including a Scheduled Caste conference that was inaugurated by none other than the Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh, Yogi Adityanath, in Hapur.
A Pivotal Announcement to Win Hearts
During this conference, CM Yogi Adityanath made a significant announcement aimed at winning the trust and loyalty of SC/ST communities. He declared that no one would be able to seize the land of SC and ST families in the state. Instead, these families would be granted leases for the land they currently inhabit, enabling them to build homes and secure their property rights. This proclamation is a strategic move by the BJP to garner support and favor among these communities, which often play a decisive role in the state’s electoral landscape.
A Swift and Compassionate Response
Chief Minister Yogi emphasized his government’s full commitment to this initiative. He outlined that when individuals from SC/ST backgrounds reside on land that is not designated as reserved category land, they will be provided with leases to build their homes on the same property. In cases where the land is categorized as reserved, the government will make comprehensive arrangements for their relocation, ensuring they receive a lease for an alternative piece of land.

During his address at the Scheduled Caste Conference, CM Yogi Adityanath didn’t hold back in targeting the Samajwadi Party and other opposition parties. He highlighted the significant changes in Uttar Pradesh since the BJP came to power in 2017. The state, once marred by riots and chaos, has transformed into a place where peace and development thrive. CM Yogi underscored that individuals who had previously oppressed Dalits were now espousing the ideals of Ambedkar and Kanshi Ram. He asserted that the BJP, under the leadership of Prime Minister Modi, has effectively worked to implement Dr. Bhimrao Ambedkar’s vision of inclusive development, marking a significant shift in post-independence politics.
