In a display of camaraderie and statesmanship, Prime Minister Narendra Modi took to social media to extend heartfelt birthday wishes to Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Yeduguri Sandinti Jagan Mohan Reddy. The Prime Minister expressed his desire for the Chief Minister’s well-being, saying, “Birthday wishes to Andhra Pradesh CM YS Jagan Mohan Reddy. May he lead a long & healthy life.”
Y. S. Jagan Mohan Reddy: A Political Luminary:
Born on December 21, 1972, YS Jagan Mohan Reddy, affectionately known as Jagananna, has carved a prominent niche in Indian politics. Currently serving as the 17th Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh, he stands at the helm of the YSR Congress Party (YSRCP), a political entity he founded and presides over.
Political Trajectory: From Congress to YSRCP:
Jagan Mohan Reddy’s political odyssey commenced within the folds of the Indian National Congress. His entry into mainstream politics saw him elected as the Member of Parliament for Kadapa in 2009. However, tragedy struck with the untimely demise of his father, Y. S. Rajasekhara Reddy, the former Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh, in a helicopter crash that same year.
In the aftermath, Jagan Mohan Reddy embarked on the Odarpu Yatra, a consoling tour across the state, connecting with the people and their sentiments. Eventually parting ways with the Congress Party, he founded the YSR Congress Party, aligning the party’s acronym with that of his revered father, YSR.
A Political Triumph: Leading Andhra Pradesh to Victory:
In the 2014 Andhra Pradesh Legislative Assembly elections, YSRCP secured 67 seats, catapulting Jagan Mohan Reddy into the role of Leader of the Opposition. Demonstrating resilience and strategic prowess, he led his party to a resounding victory in the 2019 Andhra Pradesh Legislative Assembly elections, securing a staggering 151 seats out of the total 175 assembly segments.
