In a somber announcement on Twitter, Income Tax India reveals a tragic fire incident at the Central Revenue Building in New Delhi, offering insights into the event and its aftermath.
The fire, originating in room no. 325 and an adjoining administrative area, triggered immediate evacuation procedures, with fire brigades swiftly summoned to the scene. Despite the swift response, the unfortunate loss of life of an Office Superintendent occurred due to smoke inhalation.
Thankfully, no physical records were harmed in the fire, and there was no data loss pertaining to taxpayers. The Income Tax Department reassures the public that all Income Tax Returns are filed online, and related proceedings are conducted electronically, minimizing potential disruptions.
While the fire is now under control, investigations into its cause are ongoing. Meanwhile, the department extends its deepest condolences to the bereaved family of the departed Office Superintendent. Efforts to provide support and assistance to the family during this difficult time are underway, reflecting the department’s commitment to its staff’s well-being.
