Assam: In a recent development, Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma lauded the proactive efforts of the state’s law enforcement agencies in combating the narcotics trade. Providing details of a successful anti-narcotics operation, CM Sarma revealed that based on specific intelligence inputs, Karimganj Police initiated a targeted operation, resulting in a crucial interception.
According to CM Sarma, the intercepted vehicle, originating from a neighboring state, was found to harbor illicit substances. In a remarkable feat, law enforcement authorities uncovered secret chambers within the vehicle, where a substantial quantity of heroin, totaling 612 grams, was clandestinely concealed.
The discovery of such a significant amount of heroin underscores the grave threat posed by drug trafficking networks operating in the region. The successful seizure of narcotics not only disrupts these nefarious activities but also serves as a deterrent to would-be offenders.
Furthermore, CM Sarma commended the swift and efficient actions of the Assam Police in apprehending two individuals believed to be involved in the illicit drug trade. Their prompt response and dedication to upholding law and order reflect the commitment of the state’s law enforcement agencies to safeguarding communities and combating organized crime.
The seizure of heroin and the subsequent arrests serve as a testament to the relentless efforts of Assam Police in curbing the proliferation of narcotics and ensuring the safety and well-being of citizens. CM Sarma extended his appreciation to the Assam Police for their exemplary work and urged continued vigilance in the ongoing fight against drug trafficking.
As authorities remain vigilant in their efforts to combat drug-related crimes, the public is encouraged to remain vigilant and cooperate with law enforcement agencies to eradicate the scourge of narcotics from society.
