In a significant move towards fostering economic growth and development in Meghalaya and the Northeast region, Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma recently held a fruitful meeting with the Hon’ble Union Minister for Commerce & Industry, Piyush Goyal, in New Delhi. The primary agenda of the meeting was to apprise the Union Minister of the initiatives planned by the Meghalaya government to attract investments across various sectors and to seek support from the Government of India in extending incentives to the state.
During the meeting, CM Conrad K Sangma highlighted the potential of Meghalaya in sectors such as tourism, agriculture, horticulture, and renewable energy, emphasizing the need for strategic investments to unlock the state’s full economic potential. He outlined the government’s vision to create a conducive environment for business growth and job creation in Meghalaya, aligning with the broader goal of accelerating economic development in the Northeast region.
Furthermore, CM Conrad K Sangma expressed his gratitude to Hon’ble Minister Piyush Goyal for his continued support towards the economic development of Meghalaya. He underscored the importance of collaboration between the state and central governments in implementing policies and initiatives aimed at driving sustainable growth and prosperity in the region.
One of the key requests made by CM Conrad K Sangma was for the Government of India to consider extending various incentives and benefits, currently available to businesses in other states and union territories, to Meghalaya and other Northeastern states. By aligning incentives and policies with those implemented in other parts of the country, Meghalaya aims to attract more investments and foster a conducive business environment that encourages entrepreneurship and innovation.
The meeting between CM Conrad K Sangma and Union Minister Piyush Goyal signifies the commitment of both the state and central governments towards promoting inclusive growth and development in Meghalaya and the Northeast region. It highlights the collaborative efforts being made to harness the untapped potential of the region and create opportunities for socio-economic advancement.
