National Women’s Day: As the nation celebrates National Women’s Day on 13th February each year, it not only pays tribute to the remarkable life and contributions of Sarojini Naidu but also reaffirms its commitment to advancing gender equality and women empowerment. This year, Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma extends his heartfelt wishes on this significant occasion, underscoring the importance of honoring Naidu’s legacy and recognizing the strides made in empowering women across the nation.
Sarojini Naidu, born on 13th February 1879 in Hyderabad, India, left an indelible mark on India’s struggle for independence and literary landscape. Often referred to as the “Nightingale of India” (Bharat Kokila) by Mahatma Gandhi, Naidu’s unwavering commitment to the cause of freedom and her poignant literary works continue to inspire generations.
