The Enforcement Directorate (ED) continued its stringent actions against corruption and financial irregularities by conducting follow-up search operations on November 3, 2023. This time, the raids targeted 26 locations, notably bank accounts in Jaipur and Dausa, Rajasthan, under the purview of the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA), 2002.

These operations focused on both official and residential premises, specifically those belonging to senior officials of the Public Health Engineering Department (PHED), including Subodh Agarwal, Additional Chief Secretary (PHED), and private individuals allegedly involved in the Jal Jeevan Mission Scam.

“The result of these extensive search operations led to the freezing and seizure of a substantial sum amounting to Rs. 2.21 Crore. Within this amount, unaccounted cash totaling Rs. 48 lakh and a bank balance of Rs. 1.73 Crore were confiscated. Additionally, various incriminating documents, property papers, and digital devices were also secured during the raids”.

“The cumulative seizure in this ongoing case now stands at a staggering Rs. 11.03 Crore, which includes a significant portion in gold and silver valued at Rs. 6.50 Crore. These actions underscore the significant measures taken by the ED in unearthing financial discrepancies and potential money laundering activities linked to the Jal Jeevan Mission Scam”.

The latest raids reflect the ED’s continued efforts to combat financial malpractices and bring to light any illicit transactions or irregularities associated with government projects and officialdom, ensuring stringent actions against those involved in corrupt practices. The substantial seizure of funds and evidence during these operations signifies a step towards unraveling and addressing financial improprieties.
