IMD Warning: Heat Wave Likely to Hit Multiple States on May 19, 2024

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) issued a warning regarding the possibility of heat wave conditions in several states across India on May 19, 2024.

According to IMD forecasts, Rajasthan and Haryana-Chandigarh-Delhi are likely to experience heat wave conditions, with temperatures soaring to potentially dangerous levels. Additionally, Punjab, Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Gangetic West Bengal, Bihar, Jharkhand, and Odisha are also expected to be affected by the heat wave.

As temperatures rise, residents in these regions are advised to take necessary precautions to protect themselves from the scorching heat. It is recommended to stay indoors during the hottest parts of the day, stay hydrated by drinking plenty of water, and avoid prolonged exposure to direct sunlight.

Special attention should be given to vulnerable groups such as children, the elderly, and individuals with pre-existing health conditions, who are more susceptible to heat-related illnesses.

Local authorities are urged to take proactive measures to mitigate the impact of the heat wave, including providing access to cooling centers and disseminating public health advisories.
