Anand Mahindra, Chairperson of the Mahindra Group, has taken to social media to shine a spotlight on the inspiring story of Jaspreet, a 10-year-old boy running a roadside food cart despite facing significant adversity. In a heartfelt video shared online, Jaspreet is seen skillfully preparing egg rolls, showcasing his determination and resilience in the face of hardship.
The poignant clip reveals Jaspreet’s difficult circumstances; his father recently passed away from brain tuberculosis, leaving him and his 14-year-old sister to fend for themselves. Additionally, their mother has abandoned them, refusing to take responsibility. Despite these challenges, Jaspreet demonstrates remarkable courage by attending school in the morning and operating his food cart in the evenings to sustain himself and his sister.
In addition to egg rolls, Jaspreet offers a variety of delicacies including chicken rolls, kebab rolls, paneer rolls, chowmein rolls, and seekh kebab rolls, showcasing his entrepreneurial spirit and culinary skills at such a tender age.
Moved by Jaspreet’s story, Anand Mahindra expressed his admiration for the young boy’s resilience and determination. Seeking to ensure that Jaspreet’s education does not suffer amidst his responsibilities, Mahindra appealed for his contact details, stating, “Courage, thy name is Jaspreet. But his education shouldn’t suffer.” Mahindra urged anyone with access to Jaspreet’s contact number, believed to be in Tilak Nagar, Delhi, to share it. He pledged the support of the Mahindra Foundation team in exploring ways to assist Jaspreet’s education and alleviate the burdens he faces.
Anand Mahindra’s gesture underscores the Mahindra Group’s commitment to social responsibility and empowerment, as they strive to make a meaningful difference in the lives of individuals like Jaspreet.
