Today, Prime Minister Narendra Modi commemorated a significant milestone as he inaugurated Sudarshan Setu, India’s longest cable-stayed bridge. With a length of 2.32 Km, this engineering marvel connects the Okha mainland to Beyt Dwarka island, boasting a stunning design and state-of-the-art features.

The Prime Minister, in a social media post, lauded the Sudarshan Setu as a testament to India’s infrastructure prowess and technological advancements. The bridge, constructed at a cost of about Rs. 980 crores, is set to revolutionize connectivity in the region, offering a seamless transportation link between Dwarka and Beyt Dwarka.

Sudarshan Setu’s distinctive design includes a footpath adorned with verses from the revered Shrimad Bhagavad Gita and images of Lord Krishna, adding a touch of spirituality to the architectural marvel. Moreover, the bridge incorporates solar panels on its upper portions, generating one megawatt of electricity, contributing to sustainable energy practices.

The inauguration ceremony witnessed the presence of dignitaries including the Governor of Gujarat, Shri Acharya Devvrat, Chief Minister Shri Bhupendra Patel, and Member of Parliament Shri C R Patil. Together, they celebrated the milestone achievement, acknowledging the bridge’s significant impact on the region’s connectivity and tourism.

“Before Sudarshan Setu’s construction, devotees traveling to Beyt Dwarka had to rely on boat transport, leading to time-consuming journeys. The new bridge is expected to streamline transportation, significantly reducing travel time and enhancing the pilgrimage experience for millions of devotees visiting Devbhumi Dwarka”.

Beyond its functional utility, Sudarshan Setu is poised to become a major tourist attraction, showcasing the rich cultural heritage and spiritual significance of the region. As India continues to prioritize infrastructure development, projects like Sudarshan Setu exemplify the nation’s commitment to progress and prosperity.
