The Prime Minister, Shri Narendra Modi, paid heartfelt tributes to Pandit Deendayal Upadhyaya on his Punya Tithi, acknowledging his invaluable contributions to Indian politics and ideology. Modi lauded Upadhyaya for his visionary approach, which emphasized the pivotal role of culture and heritage in shaping the nation’s trajectory.
In a poignant post, the Prime Minister conveyed his respects, stating, “Hundreds of thousands of salutes to Pandit Deendayal Upadhyay ji on his death anniversary on behalf of his family members across the country. He showed the way to take the country forward by keeping Indian culture and heritage at the center, which has also become a source of inspiration in building a developed India.”
Pandit Deendayal Upadhyaya, a stalwart of Indian politics and a proponent of integral humanism ideology, left an indelible mark on India’s political landscape. As the leader of the Bharatiya Jana Sangh (BJS), the precursor to the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), Upadhyaya championed the ideals of Hindutva revival and national rejuvenation.
“One of Pandit Deendayal Upadhyaya’s notable contributions was formulating Jan Sangh’s official political doctrine, Integral humanism, which blended cultural nationalism with Gandhian socialist principles such as Sarvodaya (progress of all) and swadeshi (self-sufficiency). Through initiatives like the monthly publication Rashtra Dharma, he sought to disseminate these ideals and foster a sense of national identity rooted in India’s rich cultural heritage”.
Pandit Deendayal Upadhyaya’s legacy continues to inspire generations of leaders and citizens alike, serving as a guiding light in the journey towards a developed India. As Prime Minister Narendra Modi honors his memory on this solemn occasion, it reinforces the enduring relevance of Upadhyaya’s vision and principles in shaping the nation’s future.
