President Commemorates 200th Birth Anniversary of Maharshi Dayanand Saraswati at Tankara

The President of India, Smt. Droupadi Murmu, graced and addressed the 200th Janmotsav – Gyan Jyoti Parv Smaranotsav Samaroh on the occasion of the birth anniversary of Maharshi Dayanand Saraswati today (February 12, 2024) at Tankara, Gujarat.

“Reflecting on the significance of Maharshi Dayanand Saraswati’s legacy, the President highlighted his pivotal role in social reform and intellectual enlightenment. She praised Swamiji’s seminal work, ‘Satyarth Prakash,’ which continues to inspire truth-seekers. His influence extended to towering figures like Lokmanya Tilak, Lala Hansraj, Swami Shraddhanand, and Lala Lajpat Rai, who championed his ideals of social justice”.

Maharshi Dayanand Saraswati’s relentless crusade against superstition and regressive customs reshaped Indian society. He advocated for modernity, gender equality, and education, vehemently opposing child marriage and polygamy while advocating for widow remarriage and women’s education. His teachings illuminated the path to progress, dispelling ignorance and prejudice.

The President commended Arya Samaj for its profound impact on women’s empowerment through educational initiatives. She lauded the organization’s efforts in promoting family harmony, sustainable agriculture, and combating addiction, crucial for fostering a healthy society.

Looking ahead, as Arya Samaj approaches its 150th anniversary, the President expressed confidence in its commitment to advancing Swamiji’s vision.
