In a bold political move, Congress MP Rahul Gandhi vowed to return what he described as ‘looted’ funds to the people of Telangana during an election campaign address. His speech, delivered on Wednesday, contained pointed remarks aimed at both Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao.
Addressing the Allegations against CM K Chandrashekar Rao
Gandhi didn’t shy away from calling out the Telangana CM, asserting that Rao would soon step down from his position, followed by rigorous questioning regarding the alleged misappropriation of funds from the citizens of Telangana. Emphasizing his commitment, Gandhi declared, “I have made up my mind that the money looted by the Chief Minister will be put back in your pockets.”
Drawing a Political Line in the Sand
Expanding on the political landscape, Gandhi highlighted the upcoming election as a faceoff between the BRS and Congress. He pointed out an alliance between BRS, BJP, and AIMIM, insinuating a collective effort. Furthermore, he underlined the legal predicaments faced by opposition leaders, citing cases involving investigative bodies such as the Enforcement Directorate (ED), Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI), Income Tax (IT) department, and vigilance cases.

Rahul Gandhi offered personal insights, stating that he faced 24 cases against him and was disqualified from the Lok Sabha. Despite this, he emphasized his willingness to give up his official residence, declaring his commitment to serving the nation and Telangana. Moreover, he highlighted the apparent lack of cases against the Chief Minister, attributing it to a strategic alliance between PM Narendra Modi and the Telangana Chief Minister.
