In a poignant recognition of extraordinary bravery and unwavering commitment to duty, Railway Protection Special Force (RPSF) constable Sh. Shashikant Kumar has been bestowed with the esteemed ‘Jeevan Raksha Padak’ by the Hon’ble President of India on the auspicious occasion of Republic Day 2024.
The accolade comes as a tribute to Kumar’s remarkable courage and swift response in a critical moment at Prayagraj Chheoki Railway Station on June 8, 2023. On that fateful day, Kumar witnessed a female passenger perilously trapped between a moving train and the platform edge, facing imminent danger of being run over by the train.
Without a moment’s hesitation, Sh. Shashikant Kumar sprang into action, displaying exceptional bravery and quick thinking to avert a potential tragedy. With remarkable presence of mind, he swiftly pulled the distressed passenger to safety, risking his own life in the process.
Kumar’s selfless act not only saved the life of the female passenger but also exemplified the highest ideals of service and dedication upheld by the Railway Protection Special Force. His courageous intervention underscores the crucial role played by RPSF personnel in ensuring the safety and security of railway passengers.
The ‘Jeevan Raksha Padak’ bestowed upon Sh. Shashikant Kumar serves as a testament to his exemplary courage and steadfast commitment to public safety. His heroic deed stands as an inspiration to his colleagues and serves as a shining example of the noble values embodied by the RPSF.
