Lata Mangeskar is an Indian singer and actress who was born on March 27, 1936 in India. She started her career as a playback singer in Bollywood films, but she later branched out into composing music for herself and writing songs for movies. Her famous song “Aayega Aanewaala” made her the first international female artist to record a hit single in Hindi.

Lata Mangeshkar is an Indian singer and actress. She has sung widely, won a record 32 Filmfare Awards and worked in over 765 songs. On her 75th birthday, the birthdays of her parents Pramod and Meena were declared public holidays in Maharashtra.
1) The highest paid female celebrity in the world. She earned $35 million US dollars in 2017, which makes her the most highest paid South Indian female celebrity in the world.
2) First Female to win 4 Filmfare Awards in one year. Lata Mangeshkar won 4 Filmfare Awards in the year 1950. These included National Award for Best Film for ‘Vishnu’, Best Playback Singer for ‘Mere Man Mein’ & Best Music Director for ‘Vishnu’. The other two awards were for Best Singer and Music Director.
3) Her first song back in the sixties was “Ram Ram Ram” from Bollywood movie ‘Jewel Thief’ (1962). The lyrics were written by Hasrat Jaipuri. She also sang “Ladki Badi Bahen” from ‘Hawaizaada’ (1963 ) and “Mere Apne Mein” from ‘Parimala’ (1963).
4) First time Filmfare Awards were presented in 1960. Lata Mangeshkar won 3 awards for Best Playback Singer for ‘ Aayega Aag’, ‘Bole To Qadam Tumhare’ & ‘Kaun Bhaye’ . Other awards were for Best Female Playback Singer for ‘Aayega Aag’, ‘Bole To Qadam T umhare’ & ‘Kaun Bhaye’.
5) She was nominated for the Filmfare Award for Best Female Playback Singer five times: in 1961, 1962, 1963, 1965 & 1966.
6) She also received Filmfare Jury Award for Best Female Playback Singer on two occasions: in 1961 & 1963.
7) Lata Mangeshkar got a title-track of her film “Chalti Ka Na am Gaadi” included in the song collection of Playback singers “Aayega aag”.
8) Bollywood film- star Sanjay Dutt’s wife Honey Irani, a Gujarati, used to sing Lata Mangeshkar’s songs for him.
9) Lata Mangeshkar’s son Rishi, who is also a singer and composer, sang “Kabhi Kabhi” and “Udi Udi Ne Bose”, written by Amitabh Bachchan.
10) Lata Mang eshkar’s first film song was in the film “Colaba” (1941). The song was “O Pagla Deewana”. Lata Mangeshkar sang “Chandimama” in the film “Lekin”.
