The 29th edition of the Kolkata International Film Festival (KIFF) kicked off on December 5, 2023, and is set to run until December 12, 2023, in Kolkata. Organized by the Information and Cultural Affairs Department, Government of West Bengal, the festival has garnered attention with the presence of Bollywood superstar Salman Khan as one of the chief guests.
A highlight of the event was the lively participation of West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, who joined Salman Khan, Sonakshi Sinha, Mahesh Bhatt, Anil Kapoor, Shatrughan Sinha, Sourav Ganguly, Raj Chakraborty, Locket Chatterjee, and others on the dance floor. A captivating visual of this impromptu dance performance to the KIFF theme song quickly went viral, showcasing the vibrant spirit of the festival.
The convergence of political leadership and Bollywood glamour added a unique flavor to the festival, emphasizing its significance as a cultural celebration. Mamata Banerjee’s enthusiastic participation in the dance festivities further highlighted the blend of art, cinema, and politics at the 29th KIFF, making it a memorable and talked-about event in the cultural calendar.
