Social Security Scheme: Chief Minister Pema Khandu of Arunachal Pradesh, on his first day in office for the third consecutive term, approved the release of Rs 100 crore under the Chief Minister’s Social Security Scheme (CMSSS). This allocation is set to benefit approximately 80,000 beneficiaries across the state.
In a statement, Khandu highlighted the impact of the scheme, stating, “In the last financial year, Rs 90 crore was allocated, benefiting 56,030 elderly persons, 8,782 widows, and 3,950 persons with disabilities.” Introduced in 2019, the CMSSS strives to offer financial assistance in the form of pensions to elderly individuals aged 60 and above, as well as widows and individuals with disabilities. This initiative seeks to significantly improve their standard of living and ensure they receive adequate support and care from the state government.
Expressing gratitude for the support received, Khandu emphasized the scheme’s role in improving the welfare of vulnerable sections of society. The initiative underscores the government’s commitment to ensuring social security and inclusivity in Arunachal Pradesh.
The CMSSS continues to be a cornerstone of the state’s welfare programs, reflecting ongoing efforts to prioritize social equity and support marginalized communities. Khandu’s proactive approach in releasing funds for this initiative signals a promising start to his new term, focusing on inclusive development and sustainable growth for all residents of Arunachal Pradesh.
