Arvind Swamy, born on 18 June 1970, is an Indian actor, model, entrepreneur, and television presenter who is known for his work in Tamil cinema. Mani Ratnam introduced him as an actor with the blockbuster film Thalapathi (1991) and he subsequently starred in successful films such as Roja (1992), Bombay (1995), Minsara Kanavu (1997), Thani Oruvan (2015), and Chekka Chivantha Vaanam (2018).
He made his directorial debut in the Netflix anthology series Navarasa (2021), with his segment titled Project Agni (Adbhutha – Wonder). Other regional film industries in which Swamy has starred include the Telugu and Malayalam industries, where he has done films such as Mounam (1995), Daddy (1992), and Devaraagam (1996).
He has also appeared in Bollywood, appearing in Saat Rang Ke Sapne (1998). He was the host of the third season of Neengalum Vellalam Oru Kodi (2012–2016) on Star Vijay for a short time before working as a television presenter.
Early Life:-
Swamy’s parents are V. D. Swamy(father), an industrialist, and Vasantha(mother), a Bharatanatyam dancer. In 1987, Swamy completed his schooling after studying at the Sishya School, Don Bosco Matriculation Higher Secondary School, and P. S. Senior Secondary School.
He graduated from Loyola College, Madras in 1990 with a Bachelor of Commerce degree. After completing his undergraduate degree in his home country, he went to the United States to obtain his master’s degree in international business from Wake Forest University in North Carolina.
Arvind Swamy wanted to be a doctor. For pocket money, he used to model in college. He was not well received by his Loyola Theatre Society and was asked to get off the stage. Mani Ratnam saw him in an advertisement later on and called for a meeting. He was introduced to the basics of filmmaking by Santosh Sivan.
