On the auspicious occasion of Gandhi Jayanti, Chief Minister Nitish Kumar of Bihar made a significant announcement, revealing that the data from the caste-based census conducted in the state has been published. This revelation marks a pivotal moment in understanding the socio-economic landscape of Bihar’s diverse population.
CM Nitish Kumar expressed his appreciation for the dedicated team that worked tirelessly on the caste-based census project, extending his congratulations to all those involved in this significant endeavor.
“He also shed light on the genesis of this important initiative, stating, “The proposal for caste-based enumeration was passed unanimously in the Legislature”. It was decided with the consent of all the 9 parties of the Bihar Assembly that the state government will conduct caste-based census from its own resources, and its approval was given from the Council of Ministers on 02-06-2022.”
The caste-based census, conducted with state resources, has not only unveiled the diversity of castes in Bihar but has also provided valuable insights into the economic conditions of individuals across various segments of society. This data serves as a foundation upon which the state government can plan and implement targeted development initiatives to uplift all sections of society.
“Chief Minister Nitish Kumar affirmed his commitment to transparency and informed governance by announcing, “Soon a meeting of the same 9 parties of the Bihar Assembly will be called regarding the caste-based census conducted in Bihar, and they will be informed about the results of the caste-based census.” This step ensures that the data is shared comprehensively with all stakeholders and encourages collective efforts towards the welfare and development of the state”.
The release of the caste-based census data is a significant milestone in Bihar’s journey towards inclusive development. It not only recognizes the diversity within the state but also underscores the government’s commitment to data-driven decision-making and equitable growth for all citizens. This valuable information will undoubtedly shape policies and initiatives aimed at improving the lives of people from various backgrounds across Bihar.
