The year 2023 is proving to be a remarkable one for Bollywood, as consecutive hits are lighting up the box office. Following the success of Shah Rukh Khan’s ‘Pathan’ and Sunny Deol’s ‘Gadar 2’, now it’s Ayushmann Khurrana and Ananya Panday’s turn to create a stir with their film ‘Dream Girl 2’. The film’s stellar performance on its opening weekend has caught everyone’s attention, leaving no doubt that it’s on its way to becoming a hit.
Remarkable opening at the box office: Taran Adarsh’s tweet
Renowned film critic Taran Adarsh took to Twitter to share the impressive performance of ‘#DreamGirl2’ over its opening weekend. The movie has received a resounding response, owing to its mass appeal that transcends beyond metropolitan and urban areas. The film’s success has been further solidified by its substantial growth on Day 2 and Day 3, placing ‘#DG2’ comfortably in the box office race. The movie garnered Rs 10.69 crore on Friday, Rs 14.02 crore on Saturday, and a remarkable Rs 16 crore on Sunday, amounting to a total of Rs 40.71 crore in the Indian market.
In the days ahead, the film must maintain its hold on the crucial Monday to sustain its momentum. With the upcoming #RakshaBandhan holiday falling on Wednesday, a surge in business is anticipated. Additionally, ‘#DreamGirl2’ will continue to dominate the box office during its second weekend with no competition in sight. The film aims to accumulate as much as possible before the release of ‘#Jawan’ on September 7, 2023.
A Second Chapter with a Stellar Cast
The success of the original ‘Dream Girl’ led to the creation of its sequel, ‘Dream Girl 2’. The filmmakers decided to cast Bollywood sensation Ananya Panday in the lead role, replacing Nushrat Bharucha from the previous installment. With this exciting change and the film’s engaging storyline, ‘Dream Girl 2’ has managed to capture the audience’s attention and earn a special place in their hearts.
