Sita Dahal, the wife of Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal, “Prachanda,” has passed away today after a prolonged battle with a rare neurological condition. She was 69 years old.
Sita had been suffering from a rare neurological condition called Progressive Supranuclear Palsy (PSP), along with Parkinson’s disease, diabetes, and hypertension. PSP is a rare disorder that affects balance, movement, vision, speech, and swallowing.
On Wednesday, Sita’s health deteriorated, and she was admitted to Norvic International Hospital in Kathmandu. Despite the medical team’s efforts, her condition did not improve, and she sadly passed away at 8:33 am.
Prime Minister Prachanda and his late wife, Sita Dahal, were blessed with three daughters and one son. Regrettably, their eldest daughter Gyanu Dahal and son Prakash Dahal have already departed.
Sita Dahal is survived by Prime Minister Prachanda, and their two daughters, Renu and Ganga. Notably, Renu Dahal currently serves as the Mayor of Bharatpur Metropolitan City, demonstrating her active involvement in public service.
The final rites of Sita Dahal will be held in the afternoon at Aryaghat, located at the revered Pashupatinath Temple in Kathmandu.
