Jeetendra, born Ravi Kapoor, is a veteran Bollywood actor and producer who has contributed significantly to the Hindi film industry. The actor Jeetendra is celebrating his 81st birthday today. Early Life and Career
Actor Jeetendra’s birth took place on April 7, 1942, in Amritsar, Punjab. He completed his schooling at St. Sebastian’s Goan High School in Girgaum, Mumbai. Jeetendra’s father was a successful businessman, and he wanted his son to join the family business. However, Jeetendra was passionate about acting, and he decided to pursue a career in the film industry.
Jeetendra made his acting debut in 1959 with the film ‘Navrang’. The film was a musical hit, and Jeetendra’s performance was appreciated by both critics and audiences. He went on to star in several films in the 1960s and 1970s, including ‘Farz,’ ‘Caravan,’ ‘Parichay,’ and ‘Khilona.’ Jeetendra became one of the most sought-after actors of his time due to his impeccable dancing skills.
A career in the 1980s and 1990s
Jeetendra’s career reached new heights in the 1980s and 1990s. He starred in several blockbuster films, including ‘Himmatwala,’ ‘Ek Nari Ek Brahmachari,’ ‘Mawaali,’ ‘Swarag Se Sunder,’ and ‘Nagin.’ Jeetendra’s pairing with actress Sridevi was immensely popular, and they delivered several hits together.
Jeetendra also ventured into film production in the 1980s and produced several successful films, including ‘Aasha,’ ‘Maang Bharo Sajana,’ and ‘Dharam Veer.’ He also launched his daughter Ekta Kapoor’s production house, Balaji Telefilms, in 1994, which has gone on to become one of the leading production houses in the Indian television industry.
Personal Life
Jeetendra married Shobha Kapoor in 1974, and the couple has two children, Ekta Kapoor, and Tusshar Kapoor. Ekta Kapoor is a successful television and film producer, while Tusshar Kapoor is an actor.
