Civil Services Day: Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar extends heartfelt greetings to civil servants across the nation on the occasion of Civil Services Day, celebrated annually on April 21st. The significance of April 21st dates back to 1947 when Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, the first Home Minister of Independent India, addressed probationers of Administrative Services Officers, laying the foundation for the observance of Civil Services Day.
On this auspicious occasion, officers from both Central and State Governments are honored for their excellence in public administration through the prestigious ‘Prime Minister’s Awards for Excellence in Public Administration.’ Instituted in 2006, these awards recognize outstanding individuals, groups, or organizations for their exemplary service. Recipients are bestowed with a medal, scroll, and a cash award, highlighting their dedication and commitment to public service.
Vice President Dhankhar encourages civil servants to continue their tireless efforts towards building a developed India by 2047, in line with the vision of a prosperous and inclusive nation. He emphasizes the importance of collective dedication and innovative approaches in tackling the challenges ahead, ensuring a brighter future for all citizens.
