Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa made a groundbreaking announcement regarding the successful collaboration between the Special Task Force (STF) Assam and Karimganj Police. The joint operation conducted at Suprakandi has led to the discovery of an unprecedented quantity of illegal drugs, marking one of the largest drug busts in recent times.

The haul includes a staggering 5.1 kg of heroin, indicative of the scale of the illicit drug trade being curtailed. Additionally, the authorities seized a substantial quantity of 64,000 YABA tablets, a concerning manifestation of the prevalence of synthetic drugs. Alongside these narcotics, four packets of foreign cigarettes were also recovered during the operation.

“The successful outcome of this joint operation underscores the collaborative efforts to combat the drug menace in the region. The commitment of both the STF Assam and Karimganj Police has played a pivotal role in dismantling a significant part of the illegal drug supply chain”.

In connection with this major drug bust, four individuals have been apprehended, marking a significant stride in the fight against drug trafficking. The arrests not only demonstrate the effectiveness of the coordinated efforts but also send a strong message about the zero-tolerance approach towards those involved in the illicit drug trade.

CM Himanta Biswa’s announcement highlights the magnitude of the operation and its impact on disrupting the illegal drug networks. The recovery of such a substantial quantity of heroin and synthetic drugs reflects the scale of the challenge faced by law enforcement agencies. The efforts put into dismantling these networks contribute significantly to the broader goal of creating a drug-free society.
