In a significant development aimed at bolstering defense capabilities and enhancing border connectivity, Chief Minister Pema Khandu of Arunachal Pradesh met with Lt Gen Raghu Srinivasan, VSM, Director General Border Roads (DGBR), along with other high-ranking officials.
The meeting, which also included Shri PKH Singh, VSM, Additional Director General Border Roads (Eastern Command), Brigadier Yogesh Nair, VSM, Chief Engineer (Arunank), and Col Vishal Shrivastava, Technical Secretary to DGBR, focused on the progress of strategic roads undertaken by the Border Roads Organisation (BRO) in the region.
During the discussions, CM Pema Khandu underscored the critical importance of these strategic road projects in bolstering defense infrastructure and ensuring better connectivity along the border areas. Recognizing the challenges posed by the rugged terrain and sensitive ecological zones, he emphasized the need to adopt modern technology and best practices in infrastructure development to minimize environmental impact.
In line with his vision for sustainable development, CM Pema Khandu stressed the incorporation of eco-friendly measures and innovative solutions in road construction activities, particularly in ecologically sensitive areas. By leveraging modern techniques and environmentally conscious practices, the aim is to strike a balance between infrastructure development and environmental conservation.
The meeting provided a platform for fruitful exchanges between the state government and the Border Roads Organisation, facilitating a comprehensive review of ongoing projects and identifying areas for further collaboration and improvement. CM Pema Khandu expressed his appreciation for the efforts undertaken by the BRO in advancing strategic road projects and reaffirmed the state government’s commitment to supporting such initiatives.
As Arunachal Pradesh occupies a strategically significant position along India’s northeastern border, the development of robust infrastructure assumes paramount importance in ensuring national security and fostering socio-economic growth in the region. The discussions between CM Pema Khandu and Lt Gen Raghu Srinivasan reaffirm the collaborative efforts aimed at achieving these objectives and underline the commitment to leveraging technology for sustainable development.
