We had a fruitful discussion regarding better technical cooperation in the field of health, nutrition, social security & agriculture at UP”.

He was extremely lucky to have had a wonderful meeting with Melinda Gates, co-chair, and trustee of the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation. We had a great discussion about how we can improve technical cooperation in the fields of health, nutrition, social security, and agriculture in Uttar Pradesh. It was an absolute pleasure to meet her and I’m very grateful for the time we had together. I’m confident that we can make great progress in improving the lives of people in Uttar Pradesh and beyond.

Dr. Jitendra Singh also said, In his inauguration speech for the conference “Women Leading Change in Health and Science in India” in New Delhi, Dr. Jitendra Singh said that women leaders are a crucial part of the new India growth story. He went on to say that projects, programs, and policies are now moving from women-specific to women-led, or we can say from an era of women’s participation to an era of women’s leadership.

Ms. Melinda French Gates said,” Policies designed for women must be made by women themselves,”. She said that women’s voices must be heard more in the decision-making process for the success of the venture. Ms. Gates was happy to note that, in the last two years, the Indian Government has taken measures to make the country gender equal, literally, through the bottom-up approach. The direct cash transfer scheme of the Indian Government during COVID-19 also received praise from her. She added that nearly 200 million people received direct cash benefits, which led to their empowerment and greater societal benefit.
