Amid a spate of accidents due to frogs CM Yogi on 3rd January (Tuesday) held a meeting and said that the responsibility for road safety was not just limited to one department and that community effort was needed to prevent accidents.
The CM said to address poor road engineering, PWD and NHAI should identify black sports and come up with short-term and long-term solutions to resolve the problems.
The CM said that a home guard should be appointed along with traffic police to improve traffic management and that it should be ensured that the registration number of a vehicle and the number on the FASTag is the same.
In the accident that took last year the CM was informed 38% were due to overspeeding and driving in the wrong direction led to 12% accidents while 9% were caused due to the use of mobile phones when driving. 40% of accidents took place on national highways while 30% took place on state highways during the same period.
“In this situation,” the CM said, “it is necessary to increase patrolling on expressways and highways.” He said state road transports Buses should be inspected regularly. Buses that do not meet fitness standards should not be used.
