On 26th April 2023, Nitin Gadkari said 61.8 km long section of NH-6 with four lanes, connecting Jorabat and Shillong. The main aim of this project is to improve the connectivity between the two capital cities of Guwahati in Assam and Shillong in Meghalaya, making it more seamless and efficient.
