Former Minister Jyoti Priya Mallick Arrested by ED in Connection to State’s Food Scam

The Enforcement Directorate (ED) has made headlines with the arrest of Jyoti Priya Mallick, currently serving as the Minister-In-Charge of Forest Affairs and Non-Conventional and Renewable Energy Sources in the Government of West Bengal. This arrest, dated October 27, 2023, is in connection to a case revolving around a Food Scam in the state.

Jyoti Priya Mallick had previously held the position of Minister-In-Charge of the Food and Supply Department in the West Bengal government, a role he served from 2011 to 2021. “The Legal Designated Chief Metropolitan Magistrate (Ld. CMM) court has sanctioned a 14-day custody of Jyoti Priya Mallick to the Enforcement Directorate. This custody has been extended until November 12, 2023, allowing for further investigation into the allegations against the former minister”.
