Cyclone Dana Dissipates, Heavy Rain Expected: Weather Update

Heavy Rain Expected: With the remnants of Cyclone Dana now transformed into a well-marked low-pressure area over north Odisha, meteorologists report heavy rain expected in South Peninsular India over the next few days. The weather system, which has shifted from a severe cyclonic storm to a weakened depression, continues to influence rainfall patterns in the region, especially Tamil Nadu and Kerala.

Cyclonic Circulation Over Southeast Arabian Sea

Adding to the heavy rain expected is a cyclonic circulation currently over the Southeast Arabian Sea, close to the Kerala coast. This system, situated in lower tropospheric levels, will likely intensify rainfall in Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, and Kerala. The combination of these systems has prompted a weather alert, highlighting heavy rain expected across various locations over the next 48 hours.

Heavy Rain Expected from October 26-27 in Key Areas

As per recent forecasts, heavy rain is expected particularly over Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, and parts of Kerala on October 26, with extended showers predicted for Kerala and Mahe until October 27. Isolated thunderstorms and lightning will also accompany these rains, raising the need for caution in affected areas.

Reduced Rainfall Expected Following the Current Spell

Following this week’s significant rainfall, South Peninsular India will likely see a reduction in rain intensity, bringing some relief to the region. However, residents and authorities are urged to stay updated and prepared, as heavy rain expected can impact transportation, daily routines, and agricultural activities.
