The current position of Cyclonic Storm “MICHAUNG” places it at Latitude 12.2°N and Longitude 82.0°E, approximately 240 km east-northeast of Puducherry, 210 km east-southeast of Chennai, 330 km southeast of Nellore, 440 km south-southeast of Bapatla, & 450 km south-southeast of Machilipatnam. With its eye fixed on the West-central Bay of Bengal, the storm is expected to continue its trajectory, intensifying further along the way.
The forecast indicates that Cyclonic Storm “MICHAUNG” is likely to reach the West-central Bay of Bengal off south Andhra Pradesh and adjoining north Tamil Nadu coasts by the forenoon of 4th December 2023. Residents in these regions are urged to closely monitor updates from meteorological authorities and take necessary precautions as the storm progresses.
By the morning of 5th December 2023, Cyclonic Storm “MICHAUNG” is projected to move nearly northwards, almost parallel and close to the south Andhra Pradesh coast. The forecast suggests that the storm will make landfall between Nellore and Machilipatnam during the forenoon as a Severe Cyclonic Storm. The maximum sustained wind speed is expected to range between 90-100 kmph, with gusts reaching 110 kmph.
