DK Shiva Kumar, a prominent leader in the political landscape, held a press conference at the KPCC office to address concerns about the central government’s deliberate disruption of the Annabhagya scheme. The conference aimed to highlight the adverse impact of this policy on the welfare of Kannadigas and emphasized the need for a united protest to convey a strong message to the central government.
The Protest Against Disruption of the Annabhagya Scheme
During the press conference, DK Shiva Kumar announced the decision to hold a protest in district centers on June 20, condemning the central government’s policy of deliberately disrupting the Annabhagya scheme. The scheme aimed to distribute 10 kg of rice to each member of the Below Poverty Line (BPL) families. The disruption of this scheme by the central government has raised concerns about the well-being and livelihoods of the poor in Karnataka.
Notification to District Units of the Congress
DK Shiva Kumar mentioned that a notification would be sent to the district units of the Congress party, urging their participation in the protest against the disruption of the Annabhagya scheme. Local MLAs were encouraged to actively engage in the protest to amplify the voice and concerns of the Kannadigas. This collective effort by the Congress party aimed to convey a strong message to the central government about the impact of its policies on the people of Karnataka.
Criticizing the Central BJP Government
DK Shiva Kumar strongly criticized the central BJP government for its handling of the Annabhagya scheme and its changing stance on rice distribution. He highlighted the contradiction between the government’s claim of having 7 lakh tonnes of rice in stock and its subsequent decision to disrupt the scheme. DK Shiva Kumar expressed concern that this action demonstrated the government’s disregard for the welfare of poor Kannadigas who did not vote for them.
Unity and Promises of the Congress Party
DK Shiva Kumar mentioned ongoing discussions with states like Telangana and Chhattisgarh, indicating that the Congress party would take necessary steps as promised. He emphasized the need for unity among political leaders and parties to address the challenges faced by the people. The Congress party’s commitment to fulfilling promises and advocating for the rights of the people reflected its dedication to the welfare and progress of Karnataka.
