Early life:
Verma was born on 23 October 1937 in Kutch to Baldev Singh Verma and Sarala Devi and brought up in Pune. His father was Rajasthani and his mother belonged to Kutch. He was the son of a film distributor. He graduated from Nowrosjee Wadia College for Arts and Science (University of Pune) in 1957 with Honours in Politics and Sociology.
He married Rupa Ganguly, the daughter of late veteran Bollywood actor Ashok Kumar and the sister of Preeti Ganguly. He had four sisters, two of them were older and two of them were younger. The two sisters who were younger were twins. Nirupama, Tushar, Amita, and Parul are his sisters’ names.
Verma acted in a few Hindi, Marathi, and Bhojpuri films. He died of a heart attack and kidney failure at 2 a.m IST on 2 December 2014 in Pune.
