The Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT), Ministry of Commerce and Industry, has partnered with Zepto Private Limited by signing a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to support and grow early-stage manufacturing startups through the ‘Zepto Nova’ innovation challenge.

This partnership seeks to identify and mentor startups through a six-month program, concentrating on hardware, IoT, packaging, and sustainable manufacturing technologies. It will support startups in moving from prototypes to market-ready products by utilizing Zepto’s delivery network and digital infrastructure.

The programme prioritizes support for women-led startups and those from Tier II and Tier III cities, offering mentorship, capacity building through expert-led workshops, and Startup India assistance. Additionally, Zepto plans to onboard over 100 Indian startups into its supply chain, providing them valuable market exposure and growth opportunities.

Joint Secretary of DPIIT, Shri Sanjiv, emphasized the important role unicorns play in supporting startups, stressing that market access is key to their success. The MoU was signed by DPIIT Director Dr. Sumeet Jarangal and Zepto Co-founder Shri Kaivalya Vohra.

Speaking about the collaboration, Shri Vohra noted that the partnership aligns with DPIIT’s vision to promote rapid innovation, inclusive economic growth, and the creation of a self-reliant India. The ‘Zepto Nova’ programme marks a significant step towards building the future of manufacturing through vibrant startup ecosystems.
