Pashupati Kumar Paras, born on July 12, 1952, is an influential Indian politician who currently holds the position of Minister of Food Processing Industries in the Government of India. With his extensive experience and dedication to public service, he has made significant contributions to the development and progress of the nation.
Currently serving as a member of Lok Sabha from the Hajipur constituency, Pashupati Kumar Paras has an impressive political background. He has also served as the Minister of Animal and Fisheries Resources in the Government of Bihar, showcasing his versatility and commitment to addressing the needs of different sectors.
Pashupati Kumar Paras holds a special place in Indian politics as he is the younger brother of the late Ram Vilas Paswan, a highly respected leader known for his contributions to social justice and empowerment. In addition to this familial connection, Pashupati Kumar Paras has been an active member of the Bihar unit of Lok Janshakti Party (LJP), where he served as the State President.
In June 2021, Pashupati Kumar Paras was elected as the National President of Lok Janshakti Party, taking over the reins from Chirag Kumar Paswan. Following a factional split within the party, he now serves as the National President of Rashtriya Lok Janshakti Party, consolidating his leadership role and working towards the party’s objectives.
Pashupati Kumar Paras has an illustrious political career, having been elected as a member of the Bihar Legislative Assembly an impressive seven times from Alauli since 1977. He has previously held ministerial positions in the state government, demonstrating his commitment to public service and his ability to enact positive change. Although he faced defeat in the 2015 elections, his dedication and strong track record earned him an appointment as an MLC (Member of Legislative Council) from the Governor’s quota, allowing him to continue his valuable contributions.
In the 2019 Indian general election, Pashupati Kumar Paras secured a seat in the 17th Lok Sabha, representing the Hajipur constituency. With his election to the national legislature, he further expanded his influence and platform to serve the people and contribute to the nation’s governance.
