Dr. Tamilisai Soundararajan, the Governor of Telangana, expressed deep concern and strong condemnation regarding the unfortunate attack on Kotha Prabhakar Reddy, the Medak MP, and BRS Dubbak MLA candidate, during an election campaign in Surampalli of Doulthabad Mandal.
In response to the distressing incident, Dr. Soundararajan emphasized the incompatibility of violence with the principles of democracy, citing it as a significant threat to the electoral process. She promptly directed the Director General of Police to initiate robust measures for investigation and to ensure the safety of all candidates and campaigners during the election period.
“Speaking on the importance of maintaining a peaceful and secure environment for fair and unbiased elections, she underlined the necessity of upholding democratic values while safeguarding the electoral process. Dr. Soundararajan stressed the significance of conducting elections in an atmosphere devoid of violence and intimidation”.
“Furthermore, she extended her heartfelt wishes for the swift recovery of Kotha Prabhakar Reddy, expressing solidarity and concern for his well-being in the aftermath of the attack”.
Dr. Tamilisai Soundararajan’s prompt and firm response to the incident highlights the imperative need to uphold democratic principles, ensure the safety of candidates, and maintain an environment conducive to free and fair electoral proceedings in the region.
