Dream Girl 2, starring Ayushmann Khurrana in the lead, has shown a promising surge in its domestic box office earnings on its second day of release. According to Taran Adarsh, the film garnered ₹14 crore on Saturday, surpassing the collection of Gadar 2, which had marked its 16th day with ₹12.5 crore. The early estimates suggest that Dream Girl 2’s two-day collection now stands at ₹24.69 crore, with a 41.40 percent Hindi occupancy on Saturday.
Directed by Raaj Shaandilyaa, Dream Girl 2 is a sequel to Ayushmann’s 2019 hit of the same title. The movie showcases Ayushmann’s character Karam adopting the persona of Pooja to gather funds for his beloved, portrayed by Ananya Panday. The star-studded cast includes Paresh Rawal, Annu Kapoor, Rajpal Yadav, Vijay Raaz, Asrani, Abhishek Banerjee, Manjot Singh, and Seema Pahwa. Backed by Ektaa R Kapoor’s Balaji Motion Pictures, the film has been hailed as Ayushmann’s “biggest opener to date,” outshining the opening day figures of his previous hit Bala.
Ayushmann Khurrana expressed his elation at Dream Girl 2’s impressive start, stating, “It feels amazing to deliver my career’s best opening with Dream Girl 2. Dream Girl is a franchise that has given me a lot of love and I’m really happy with the start that Dream Girl 2 has got at the box office.” He emphasized the film’s entertainment value, highlighting its ability to deliver laughter and joy to audiences. With this successful start, Ayushmann’s words echo the film’s triumph in captivating and entertaining viewers.
